Accent conversion, translation and voice cloning: which do you need?
Changing how a sentence sounds, changing its language and reproducing a particular voice identity are different goals. Define the result before uploading a recording.

Accent conversion: a different pronunciation target
For example, you have an English presentation and want to evaluate it with a US or UK English target. The task concerns how the spoken message sounds. You still need to check whether the converted result conveys the same message.
ChangeAccent offers these two English targets for recorded video with one clear speaker. Conversion can also alter wording and voice. Treat exact phrasing, proper names and speaker identity as things to review, rather than promised invariants.
Translation: a different language
If an English explanation needs to become a Spanish explanation, the central task is translation. That requires checking meaning in the destination language, beyond whether the voice sounds convincing.
ChangeAccent’s available customer targets are English (United States) and English (UK). It is not an all-language translation service. Do not interpret an accent selection as a promise of support for every source language or a destination language outside those targets.
Voice cloning: reproducing a particular voice identity
Voice cloning uses reference recordings to reproduce a particular person’s vocal identity in generated speech. Its central question is whose voice the output should resemble. Accent conversion instead starts with a pronunciation target, such as US or UK English; selecting that target does not establish that the original speaker’s identity will be preserved.
ChangeAccent is not a voice-clone builder and does not provide an identity guarantee. Its conversion can change the voice as well as pronunciation and wording. If a recognizable, consistent voice identity is essential to your project, assess that requirement separately rather than assuming an accent choice will satisfy it.
Permission matters in both workflows. Use only media and voices you have permission to process; having a recording of someone does not by itself establish permission to reproduce their voice.
Voice changing: a different vocal character
If your goal is to sound like a different character or alter pitch during a call, you are choosing a voice effect. That goal differs from selecting a US or UK English pronunciation target.
ChangeAccent does not provide a live microphone effect, an audio-only upload workflow or a character voice selector. Its output voice may change during conversion, but that is not a promise of a particular new voice or an exact copy of the original.
Choose by the result you need
- A recorded video with a US or UK English target: try a short ChangeAccent preview and compare it with your source.
- Speech in another destination language: look for a workflow that explicitly supports that language and allows meaning review.
- A live call or stream effect: you need a tool that explicitly supports real-time microphone processing.
- A clone of a particular person’s voice: you need an explicitly supported voice-cloning workflow and permission to use that identity.
- Exact wording or an unchanged voice: do not rely on an accent target alone to satisfy that requirement.
A preview answers a narrow question: does this converted sample suit your use? It does not certify a regional dialect, unchanged words or consistent quality across the rest of the video.
Test the part that matters
For a tutorial, include its central technical term. For a product introduction, include the product name. For a presentation, include a sentence with the numbers or claims you need to preserve. Listen for meaning, pronunciation and voice, then review the full result before sharing.
Follow the recorded-video walkthrough for the actual draft, upload, preview and download steps, or return to the video accent changer.
Try your own recording
Use a video you own or have permission to process. Start with a preview before deciding on a full conversion.
